You can choose presets or load in user shapes (.hfk files) but the shape design area can look broken and creating your own shapes would be difficult. This menu is bugged when your document is in pixel mode.If you change shapes you will not lose any painting on your grid, so you change shapes back and forth however you like! The Custom Shape Menu This shape setting is what this guide is about! You have a lot of control about the kind of grid you want to work with. You can get thing between squares and hexagons with some jiggle. This lets you morph your own kind of grid with it’s settings. You can set the x-y ratio in the settings, in conjunction with transform/scaling you can mix any kind of settings together. It got its own subset of grid shapes which you can switch forth and back without losing any vector information. This is probably the most powerful kind of grid you can have. There are 4 different kind of shape settings in Hexels which define the the grid for ALL shape layers in (and if you are in vector mode the size of) your document: The three by three dot symbol lets you know you are working with a pixel layer. When you look at your layer list you can identify the layertype by the small icon in the preview image.Ī small triangle indicates this is a shape layer. A pixel layer does not have a grid and is the typical classical approach to drawing. A shape layer comes with a grid that you can move, rotate and resize without pixel bending/stretching because it is based on vector shapes.Hexels allows you to work with two different kind of layers: So these are some of the ways you can quickly rotate text in Excel.Guide to Custom Shapes Introduction to Shapes in Hexels Or you can use the Alignment dialog box (the second method covered in this tutorial) and set the orientation degrees to 0. If you want to remove the rotated text and get back the regular horizontal text, you need to go back and disable the current setting (which you can do by clicking on the same option in the ribbon again).įor example, if you have the text in the Angle Counterclockwise setting, go to the same option and click on it again (it works as a toggle). Change the Text Orientation Back to Horizontal (Default State) It’s a long keyboard shortcut, but still, the fastest way if you need to use this setting regularly. If rotating the text is something you need to do a lot often, getting used to the shortcut to do this could save you some time.īelow is the keyboard shortcut to rotate text in the selected cells ALT + H + F + Q + O (press one after the other) Keyboard Shortcut to Rotate Text in Excel You can also click on the red dot in the Orientation option and use the mouse to get the desired alignment. In the orientation section, enter the degrees by which you want the text to be rotated. In the options that show up, click on the ‘Format Cells Alignment’ option. This is a slightly longer method (takes a few extra clicks), but gives you a lot more control. Rotate Text Using Ribbon Format Cells Dialog Box You can do that as well, but for that, you need to use the next method covered in this tutorial. For example, what if you want the angle of the rotation a little more than 45 degrees (say 60 degrees). While this is a quick way to rotate text in a cell, it gives you limited options. While there are some other options as well, I don’t use them (and not sure if anyone does). You can also choose the options such as Angle Clockwise or Rotate Text Up. The above steps would rotate the text in the selected cells by 45 degrees. In the options that show up, click on the ‘Angle Counterclockwise’ option. In the Alignment group, click the ‘Orientation’ icon.Select all the cells (that has the headers).Suppose you have a dataset as shown below and you want to rotate the headings in the first row.īelow are the steps to rotate the text in the cells: Rotate Text Using Ribbon Alignment Options Change the Text Orientation Back to Horizontal (Default State).Keyboard Shortcut to Rotate Text in Excel.Rotate Text Using Ribbon Format Cells Dialog Box.Rotate Text Using Ribbon Alignment Options.
